- Zidane press conference for tomorrow’s match against Granada
Real Madrid face Granada at home for La Liga’s 15th Matchday. The match will be played in Madrid’s Aflredo di Stefano stadium at 19:45 CET on Wednesday.
As usual, Zinedine Zidane has spoken to the media where he answered questions regarding the team.
Granada
“It’s a very important match because this is a team that’s been having a great season. We know we’re playing against a very tough opponent tomorrow. There are no easy matches in this league, but even less so tomorrow against this team that’s playing so well. It’s more difficult to play against a that defends more. When you face a team that attacks, it can be easier with more space. I don’t think Granada will defend very deep tomorrow. This is a team that knows how to play football and attack,” said Zidane.
An alleged penalty for a Ramos handball in the match against Eibar has sparked a lot of controversy. Barcelona’s head coach Ronald Koeman criticized VAR for it and Zinedine Zidane had an answer to that.
“There’s a lot of talk when something happens to us, it’s true, that just happens with Real Madrid. It’s annoying because I never get involved with refereeing. The referees are part of the game, they can make mistakes, like the players and like all of us in life. With respect to the comments from Koeman, I will not say anything as I’m just thinking about tomorrow’s game.”
Lack of Rotations
“You make me laugh, but in a good way. If I rotate then you ask why I’m doing so. If I don’t then you ask me why I’m not. The team is playing well and the players are prepared. There are so many matches, they’ll all have to be ready for when it’s their turn to play. I’m counting on all my players. With some more than others, but I’m counting on them all.”
Marco Asensio
Asensio has been heavily criticized by fans for the lack of contribution in attack, but Zidane still has faith in him. “I have always trusted him and that’s the most important thing,” Zidane confirmed. “The team is playing well now and it is true that in the last few games he has not played much, but what he has to do, like everyone else, is to contribute what he knows.”
Eden Hazard
“Emotionally maybe it hasn’t been easy (for Hazard) until now, but now he seems well,” he said. “You have to do things with patience, little by little.”
Luka Modric’s injury
“He is feeling some discomfort and let’s hope it’s not too bad,” Zidane said. “But as always we’re not going to risk him, and we’ll see if we can recover during these days of rest.”
