Thibaut Courtois had an incredible La Liga campaign and was rewarded with the ‘Zamora’ trophy for his hard work. The ‘Zamora’ trophy is an award given to the goalkeeper with the lowest ‘goals to games’ ratio.
Courtois has conceded only 20 goals in 34 games and is the first Real Madrid goalkeeper to win the trophy after 12 years. The last goalkeepers to win it for Real Madrid were Iker Casillas in 2008 and before that Francisco Buyo in 1992.
The Belgian star has kept a clean sheet in 6 out of 11 games since La Liga restarted and has conceded only 5 goals in those 11 games.
Courtois has won the two times previously, in 2012/13 and in 2013/14 when Atletico became La Liga champions. This is his second time winning the double, the La Liga title and the Zamora trophy.
