Real Madrid have been drawn against Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup following the draw staged at the Spanish Football Federation’s headquarters during the course of the institution’s extraordinary general meeting.
The tie will take place on Thursday, 14 January at Málaga’s Estadio La Rosaleda. The other semi-final encounter will be played the day before and will see Barcelona meet Real Sociedad at Córdoba’s Estadio Nuevo Arcángel. The winners of the two ties will go head-to-head on Sunday, 17 January at Seville’s Estadio de La Cartuja.
Real Madrid have won the last Spanish Super Cup by defeating Valencia in the semis and Atletico Madrid in the final.
