Real Madrid are looking for their 6th straight win since La Liga restarted. Los Blancos have the opportunity to extend their lead to four points.
Real Madrid host Getafe at the Di Stefano stadium tonight @ 22:00 CEST. Barcelona have dropped two more points against Atletico Madrid and this gives Real Madrid the chance to go up by four points in La Liga title race.
The only team with a 100% win record since La Liga restarted, Real Madrid now have to face their first top-six team since the restart. Getafe’s recent form is not impressive. One win, one loss and three draws in their last six games. But that doesn’t mean much now. Last round we saw last placed Espanyol cause a lot of trouble for Real Madrid.
The two clubs have met only once, back in January in a game that saw Real Madrid win 3-0 on the road.
Both teams have been great defensively this year. Real Madrid are the best defensive side in La Liga and Getafe are not too far away either. They are currently the fourth best defensive side in La Liga, with only 30 goals conceded so far.
Offensively, Real Madrid are clearly the better side. Los Blancos have scored eleven goals compared to Getafe’s five.
Getafe will be a true test for Real Madrid. Bordalas has build a solid team that’s very annoying to play against. Previously this year they have eliminated Ajax from Europa League.
Injuries & Suspensions
Lucas Vazquez and Luka Jovic have recovered from injury and both players have been called up for the match squad. Nacho remains injured and won’t participate in the game.
Eden Hazard is not injured but Real Madrid decided to rest him and he has been not called up as a precaution.
Luka Modric and Ferland Mendy return from suspension. Currently, Real Madrid have no suspended players and only Vinicius is at risk of suspension if he picks up another yellow card.
At this point, predicting Zidane’s starting lineup is like winning a lottery. He has been very unpredictable, especially in attack where he’s played many different formations with almost all the players involved. Defensively, he doesn’t change much and relies on the usual players, with the exception of Marcelo and Mendy who are rotated often.
Real Madrid: Courtois, Carvajal, Varane, Ramos, Mendy, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Rodrygo, Vinicius, Benzema.
Getafe: Soria, Suárez, Djené, Etxeita, Olivera, Nyom, Arambarri, Maksimović, Cucurella, Duro, Mata.
Tough test for Real Madrid ahead, but Los Blancos have looked solid and confident in all of their games since the restart. With Barcelona dropping more points, they now have another chance to extend the lead and we believe they will capitalize on that.
Real Madrid 2 – 0 Getafe
