- The former Real Madrid midfielder spoke to Club del Deportista
Ahead of the Madrid derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid (Saturday, 21:00 CET), former Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente spoke to the media.
Llorente changed sides in 2019 when he joined Atletico and has not looked back since. He has been performing well there recently in his new role as a second striker. As usual, he fitness level is incredible and he has scored five goals and made three assists so far this season.
The 25-year-old made only 39 appearances across three seasons with Real Madrid’s first team as he failed to establish himself as a regular starter.
“I was very clear that I had to leave Real Madrid. When Atleti’s offer arrived, I did not hesitate.” said Llorente.
“Now things are going very, very well for me. I’m very happy about it. When a player has minutes, he develops, he becomes a better player, and that’s what is happening to me now.”
Llorente’s father Francisco and great uncle Francisco Gento were wingers, while his maternal grandfather Ramón Grosso was a forward.
