- According to reports from Spain, Real are not happy with the minutes the player is given
Brazilian youngster Reinier joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2019 for €25 million. Unable to give him minutes with the first squad, Real first played him for Castilla, but this summer reached a 2-season loan deal with BVB in hopes of a better experience for the player.
Now, Real Madrid are unhappy with the minutes he is being given in Dortmund, according to a report from Diario AS. Reinier has only played 106 minutes so far this season.
Real Madrid had previously loaned out Achraf Hakimi to BVB, where he had developed into a world-class fullback, before selling him to Inter Milan this summer. But is Borussia Dortmund the best option for Reinier? With Sancho, Haaland, Reyna, Brandt and Reus, they have a stacked squad in attack and while Reinier is an incredible talent, it was unlikely that he will see enough minutes to improve and have a steady development. According to the report, BVB pushed hard to sign Reinier on loan, and that’s the main reason why Real Madrid are surprised by his lack of minutes.
It could be argued that the club made a mistake by loaning him in a team where he’s unlikely to play a lot, but that remains to be seen. The season is long and Reinier will certainly have chances to prove himself in Dortmund. Hopefully, he can make the best of the limited minutes he’s likely to play this season.
